The Hex Files Secrets Silversands
We chose this place because Trip Advisor rated it #2 in Puerto Morelos. Our first couple of hours there were the most unwelcoming we have experienced in Cancun.
We have been to three other resorts and all were better. We walked into the resort, and stood there for a minute or two waiting for someone to approach us with a champagne glass or water or refreshment. No one did, we saw a row of desks on the right and spotted a person sitting at the last one so we approached him and began our check in. Something you should know: Before going to your room after a long day of travel, a Secrets rep will sit with you offering a breakfast at Maroma.

It actually is to sell vacation time, shifty. If you are not interested in listening to the talk, decline emphatically as it chews up a morning. The description of the room was swim out, there was 10 yards of grass from the end of our patio to the pool. Yes a ground floor room, but a swim out? The resort site states garden or pool view as a swim out room.really that is what they consider swim out, shifty.
There was a lot of disappointment to start and we were not happy for the first couple of hours waiting for our luggage to arrive in our swim out room. We walked around the resort several times, it is nice. The staff is extremely helpful, resort lay out is good, and dining made up for the early disappointments. As we moved through the week there were only two nights where we had a wait for dinner. Nightly entertainment was, well, entertaining. A cool feature was movies on the side of the resort. It reminded me of a drive in, but in a beach chair.
The beach is bad, Azul right beside Secrets did a much better job on the beach. In summary; those first few hours were frustrating and maddening enough to tarnish our experience there.
The food was good, service excellent, too bad the servers aren’t welcoming you. My opinion is there are too many quality choices out there to accept the welcome with the swim out and Maroma misdirection. I planned this trip for me and 3 other friends. I did a lot a research on A/I Adult Only hotels in the Cancun area, an decided on this one. We stayed in a couple of the Prefered Club Ocean View rooms. People this is what you are looking for as far as view an upgraded rooms.
Prefered Club is the way to go. You have access to their club which is small but has all the top shelf drinks, along with hot an cold snacks. Wew found all the food to be pretty good on average. Drinks: I would not drink any of the mixed drinks coming from the pool area.
If you are going to served while at the pool areas only drink the draft beer or can beer. After drinking the nice frozen drinks by the pool,I lost my appetite for food the rest of the trip. I don't know what it was but it had the same effect on most of us. This is the only negative thing to review. Grounds: Very clean, everything always picked up, an manicured. Lot oof room to move around at this resort an it never seemed crowded even though there were a lot of people there. I would go back without a doubt.
We are a couple in our 50's and loved the Secrets's Silversands, decorated nice for Christmas and the staff is very friendly, wave's to Mayra! Food was average, Lasagna was great first time we had it, second time it was burnt. Breakfast was good. Lunch at the barefoot grill was awesome first couple days, then 3rd day seems they changed the meat and cheese and not done in the middle. The pool was heated and felt good to get in.
Our last day a woman with pooped pants took them off and threw them in the pool. We did not get in again.that is just gross. Come on people go to your room and wash them there.
Oceania was good for lunch, we had fish and chips, they have it listed as an appetizer. That was plenty for a meal. Need to put on main course menu. Beach was nice. And great sunsets and sun rises, Yes we would go back. Some of the shows were good others were so so. But overall it's a 4 star in my book.
We recently visited Secrets Silversands with a group of 10 (5 couples), and overall, the trip was great! The atmosphere was perfect for a friends trip as it was very lively and engaging. The entertainment staff was fantastic. Estanfia, Mayra, Gibran, Charlie, and Miguel were great to watch! We loved the games they played in the pool!
The wait staff by the pool were fantastic as well. We loved Delmy as she knew our orders and was always pleasant with a big smile! We were able to visit all restaurants and Bordeaux was our favorite! The food and staff were absolutely amazing. We were looking forward to hibachi at Himitsu, but it did not live up to our expectations.
The food was good, but not worth the wait to make reservations (this is the only restaurant that requires reservations). It was difficult to get a table for all 10 people at most restaurants. Some restaurants even attempted to get us to pay (+$100) to be able to sit together which was not ideal.
Luckily we met Jerica who was able to help us sit together at dinner. Free Working Model 2d Keygen Crack 2016 - And Torrent 2016. As for the room, it was good.
We had a swim out suite and the room was clean, but had a bit of a smell to it, but it was better by day two. We were offered to change rooms, but we chose to stay in our room to be close to the other couples we booked with. Overall- I would recommend Secrets Silversands to anyone looking for a lively/party atmosphere.
We visited Silversands a few times when it first opened and decided to return for one week in December, 2017 because we knew the New General Manager from his years at Secrets the Vine and Secrets Akumal. We were pleasantly surprised and are returning to Silversands at the end of January. I want to touch on just a few matters. First of all, it is obvious that this new General Manager is taking things under his command at this 9-year-old property. During his first few months there he had already replaced all of the pool lounges (hundreds of them) with very comfortable, well-padded lounges and side tables. He has lots of plans for perfecting the facilities. The biggest surprise was the beach which, as I recalled, was very hard and stony and had so much grass in the sand and in the water that nobody would use it.
Not true anymore. The resort is spread out along the ocean and part of the property faces a very natural beach 'in the raw'. However most of the property now faces a beautiful soft white powdery beach.
The grass is being very well controlled with little if any on the beach. There are some patches of grass in the water as at many of these resorts but there are now large areas of clear water to swim in. The water's edge is a great place for a walk or jog and you can continue past this beach to the beach in front of all of the other hotels on the strip. You will notice that most of other hotels do not maintain their beaches to the same standard as Silversands.
The beach is also very quiet and peaceful, used almost exclusively by hotel guests, and very few of them, as most guests take advantage of at least 8 quiet pools, one per building, plus the huge main pool where all the activities take place. This pool is HEATED, a big plus for us and the water is kept at a consistently lovely temperature. The guests seem to really like the entertainment staff and have a lot of fun with them.
They get a lot of people to participate in their activities and the place really hops during the evenings. Our favourite restaurant is the Italian Restaurant where the Manager, Juan Jose. This was our first trip to the Cancun area, as we normally go to Puerto Vallarta. Since we have stayed at Secrets Vallarta Bay numerous times and generally enjoy it, we thought that we would try Silversands on this trip.
We stayed for ten days in December 2017. ***Arrival We arrived around 7:00 or 8:00 in the evening. No cold towels, wine, or 'welcome home' greeting offered upon arrival as we are used to in PV. Due to the non-peak arrival time, the check-in process was quick and the bellman showed us to our room (second floor in building 5). Upon entering the room, my first impression was that it looked very run down.
Immediately outside of the door to the room, you could see what appears to be the wastewater treatment plant and hear the constant noise of the equipment. However, the disgusting smell was the worst part. I tried to convince myself that it wasn't bad.but it was.
Due to our later arrival time, we got room service and stayed in the room for the night. First thing in the morning, I requested a room change.
There was a mild 'upsell' offer, but no pushback in moving us to another room of the same category in another building (second floor in building 1).obviously this is a known issue to the resort. The room was in a little better condition (still not great) and the smell was not an issue in building 1. ***Rooms The rooms are overall a good size and have a balcony with seating area and drying rack. Our room had a view to one of the pools. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning kept the room at a comfortable temperature. The bathroom had double sinks, jacuzzi (not used), and a decent sized shower.
The room and fixtures/furnishings are showing some wear and tear. Another thing that we noticed was that the water has a mild sewage smell.
If you plug the sink and fill it, you will see that it has a color to it as well. For this reason, we always used bottled water for brushing teeth, etc.
I don't know if this is a hotel specific issue or common to all resorts in the area, but not a great impression. ***Food We ate every morning at World Cafe (buffet). Mar, the hostess, is very nice and the servers (Jose, Juan, Miguel) were good as well. In general, the buffet food quality was lower than what I was expecting to be honest.
Food labels were inconsistent, and serving utensils were put on a common tray for two items.not great if you are vegetarian and someone has put a spoon covered in meat or fish on the tray. Even worse if you have food allergies as you can't be assured that there isn't cross-contamination. For lunch, we normally came back to world cafe (buffet) or Oceania (a la carte) by the pool. Same comments as breakfast for world cafe. My food was improperly heated (cold) at Oceania on one occasion.
For dinner, we usually did room service. Pasta was cafeteria-grade spaghetti, pizzas were small and thin (think low-end frozen pizza). Normally we got some chips/salsa/gauc which was okay.
Fries tasted like they were the leftovers from lunch and cooked in old oil (tasted gross). Veggie lasagna was ice cold in the middle. We went to the italian restuarant a few times for dinner.same low end food but service was decent. We were a bit freaked out before arriving because there were a lot of people in reviews saying that they were getting sick (wasn't clear if it was the food, virus, or perhaps drinking the tap water). We took precautions to the extent possible and didn't get sick, thank goodness. ***Pool and Beach The beach was okay and better than I expected based on the reviews that I had read.
There wasn't much seaweed when we arrived, but the weather got more unsettled in the second half of our stay and a lot of seaweed came in. There is a tractor that does a fairly poor job of picking up the seaweed, more like spreading it in a thin layer rather than screening out the seaweed from the sand. There was a decent amount of palapas on the beach and generally a lot of seating options around the pool. As with everywhere, you get the people who 'claim' seats early in the morning and don't show up (or show up in the afternoon after hogging the seats all day).
Also, there are some designated smoking areas on the resort, but the usual people on the beach who have no problem sitting upwind from you and blowing smoke in your face all day. ***Drinks I am not a drinker at all, but like to have a decent quality drink or two during the day on vacation. No Crown Royal available (this stuff isn't even expensive).all they have is Canadian Mist (never heard of it, but a quick google search confirms it is about the cheapest option available). Other mixed drinks were inconsistent and seemed of poor quality.
Since they didn't seem to have any alcohol (I am a lightweight and didn't notice anything), I am left to wonder what I was actually drinking and (if my assumptions are correct) why a resort feels it is okay to misrepresent what they are serving you to pad their profits? ***Gym The gym was fairly well equipped and the equipment was in good condition. However, it is like working out in a sauna.
I do an hour on the treadmill and it was brutal. The A/C system was not even turned on. When I called the front desk they said they would send someone in '10 minutes', but nobody came while I was there. Frutiger Black Font Free Download.
The next day I saw on the thermostat that the system was 'on', but the temp was still 25C.not acceptable. ***Common Areas Generally speaking, everything from the floors to the furnishings looks pretty heavily worn and dirty. Bathrooms were beat up and dirty most of the time. My wife said there was a stall with a missing toilet seat (at 4.5 star resort!?!). The resort is less than ten years old (opened in 2008), but before knowing that I thought that it was much older.
***General Comments As we always find during our trips to Mexico, the people are nice and service is generally good. However, in terms of infrastructure, food, and drinks this resort is definitely not what I expect of a 5 star or even 4 start resort. We have been pretty loyal to Secrets so far, so we may give them another chance at a different location, but definitely not this one.sub-par across the board.
