If you check the nVidia website you will not there are no Windows 7 drivers for your video chip. Microsoft does not write drivers for third party hardware. NVidia will decide whether they will ever support your chip with Windows 7 drivers. If not, then you will have to be content with the standard VGA. If I were on your shoes, I'd try to see if the nvidea's tool would be able to update my video driver automatically. In this case, the official link is listed bellow: If no Better, at least not worse, check the nvideo web site and choose another video card compatible with Win 7, maybe you could exange the one you have for the new one, even if you had to pay a small fee to meet the tag price of the new card. The link to look for a compatible one is listed bellow: Or you could only remove the card, as soon as the original one works better than this one.

Good look, renatoabc. Another thing you could do, and maybe solve your question is listed above: 1) Reinstall Win 7, but set it not to go to windows update automatically. 2) After Win 7 is working just fine and the video driver is the one you prefer, go (manually) to Windows UPdate, and from the list of the available updates, do not choose Express instalation. 3) Do a custon instalation, I mean, click on the available updates and check only the ones you need, and don't check the box for the video update. This way Windows update won't give you problems with the video so soon. Good luck renatoabc. I have another solution, less traumatic: 1) You have downloaded the dell drivers pack (including the video driver) and installed it, things were good enought until Windows Update damage the video.

2) No panic: Disable automatic updates, and reinstall the dell drivers pack. 3) At this point your PC is OK, 4) And windows update is not automatic, so from now on, from time to time, you need to do continuos manual upate, checking only the boxes that could help you improve performance and security on you computer, avoiding the instalation of the video driver from windows update. 4) To finish, you need to agree that there is no diference in fixing the driver from the automatic tool at nvidea site, or manually with the pack you downloaded, if windows update is set to automatic you will be in troble again.

Hope this can help you. You have to realize that Microsoft does not write the drivers that are in the Windows Update system. Those drivers are written by the manufacturers and provded to Microsoft as a courtesy. The manufacturers are under no obligation to have their drivers put in the Windows Update but do so a convenience. So, when you get a new driver via Windows Update that causes problems it is not Microsoft's fault! Microsoft is only the messenger.

Microsoft does not write any drivers for third party hardware. I personally think Microsoft should never had started the update service for other companies because now everyone thinks Microsoft is the source of problems when they ocurr, but Microsoft is not the source - they are only the courier! Hi Mr Rick Dee you are not making suggestions to the listed problem, i find that you are only making agrissive remarks and definding microsoft. Surly ms is not the one to blame. I don't feel the way you feel ' everyone thinks Microsoft is the source of problems' plz help me come around my video driver issue with win 7 ultimate! Regards mmalkawi If the manufacturer does not provide Windows 7 compatible video drivers for your system, then there is not much Microsoft or Windows 7 can do to make your video work the way you want it to. I don't know why you state I am being aggressive. I am only stating facts and you apparently don't want to accept the facts.

I found yor reply informative in an other aspect that i appreciate.

Download Movie Van Helsing 2. Ie i did not know before that ms automatic updates could come from an other source other than ms itself. I have indeed taken this for a fact thanks to you. But this newly aquired fact doesn't imply that i made before any acusation to any one whatsoever.

Now you refer to my person as not willing to accept facts. That is not true. If you are willing to help with the video card issue, here i stata the problem clearly: my dell latitude d 820 with Nvidia quad. Nvs 120m video card worked neatly after clean install of win 7 ultimate and set to ms updates. But when i wanted to uninstall ESET nod anti virus it jammed and i made forced reboot, i found my video card diabled by windows with the code 40. I rolled back to vga drivers. And every time ms update discovers and reinstall the drivers again, but win 7 disables the card every time.

I know my card is compatible with win 7 but what is the problem and how can i clear it???? I have searched the Hardware Compatibilty site and I cannot find the nvs 120m listed at all. Even the nVidia website states: ' No certified downloads were found for this configuration.' On the contrary, win update helps me install the needed drivers and they worked fine until NOD 32 removal stuck and some conflict is there since then.

I am considering formatting again and adopting to ms security essentials as anti virus. I want to show you the reboot screens how ugly they are. You would see on the bios screen (during the first seconds of booting) the ugly, parallel, vertical, white lines with foot steps on them.I really don't want to see them any more. I will go to the more traumatic choice and will tell you what happens. Regards mmalkawi.

I have been taking time to explore the site and read to understand how finaly the driver should be intsalled. It is unusual to find the site lets you know any nvidia display driver is basicaly usefull to install any nvidia graphic chip BUT it is the INF file that directs to a specific chip.

I feel am a few steps away from undestanding this puzzle. I signed up and will attend to the nvidia forum frequently for further enlightenment. NVidia drivers are based on a system called Unified Driver Architecture (UDA) which means all nVidia card drivers are using one driver if just one link to my target driver opens, then i will do the 3-step process. Now some required links fail to open.

Hi Buddy I have also the same problem as you are facing with Your D820 in win7. If You get any solution then plz also send me on my ID imranabbas2@yahoo.com Takecare The solution is to identify which video chip you have in your system and then search the internet for a solution. Microsoft is not going to write either a nVidia driver nor an Intel driver because these are third party hardware and Microsoft does not write drivers for third party hardware! If You get any solution then plz also send me on my ID imranabbas2@yahoo.com Takecare Hello maani11. Did you spot your video card type(Nvidia or Intel)? I don't have experience with the intel one. BUT the Nvidia quad.nvs 120m takes you realy into mystery since it takes the driver, provided with updates, and works neatly for sometime, and then all of sudden stops and enters the BSoD. After this you have to resolve the BSoD problem and relaps to the standard VGA drivers.

No body will tell you how to make it work with win.7 all the way or explain to you why it works for sometime but not all the time. All they will say is microsoft will not write a third party drivers, and you will not be able to understand why they start like this.

If you are facing the troubles just like i described with your Nvidia-based graphics, then I can tell you the BIOS should be updated as a 1rst step to A10. Use win.7 starter and turn on ms updates until the latest driver hits your graphics card. This had worked for me. It should work for you.
