Crack Think3 2009 Ram
It's not really necessary on a truck with stock injectors, but it does keep the front half of the engine from running significantly higher EGT when the wastegate is open. I did 13/16' which also opened up the w/g hole a tad. I think 3/4' would be sufficient for the purpose of equalizing pressure between the two scrolls. Swank opened his up a bunch and had the housing crack, but he let the EGT gauge get up a little bit higher than I would. The housing on my WH1C doesn't appear to have any cracks, I ran that way for a couple months. My reason for doing this was that the wastegate could no longer control boost, the front half of the engine was driving the turbo to 37 psi. With milder fueling wasting only the rear cylinders will control the boost, I had no problem keeping boost to 30 psi before I got the POD's.

Well, I may try it anyway since I plan to run the boost up to 25-30 psi and add more fuel as much as the VE pump will go until I get the money to buy some POD's. This stuff is so much fun!!! Does the extra hole hurt anything otherwise? I do a lot of towning so I get a lot of smoking due to my right foot being encased in lead.
The Wh1C should take care of the smoke at least and boost town fuel economy also. Last fillup showed 18.6 so I'm not that unhappy. I'd love to see 20 highway. Thanks for the advise.

I'd love to see 20 highway. The hole did not seem to affect spoolup at all, which was something I was concerned about when I did it. I did see increased fuel economy in town due to being able to upshift earlier - but I went from the 21 cm to the 12 cm. Highway running won't be hurt unless you drive faster than 70. Once you get up around 75 you'll see constant boost pressures over 10 psi due to the high RPM, which is just back pressure on the compression stroke. I've seen as bad as 16 mpg running fast (75 - 80) for extended periods. As a reference, my truck never did better than 18.5 at 70.
It has done 20 mpg, but I gotta slow down to 60 to see it.
