Kmeaw 3.55 Custom Firmware - LV2 Patches with Peek/Poke Included Submitted by; January 19, 2011 Here be another custom firmware for your PS3. This is kmeaw's version, which provides practically the same as, but also you're able to install pkgs that aren't signed for.

So all that homebrew for 3.41 can now be installed on kmeaw's 3.55; signed and unsigned pkgs are compatible. By now I hope you're familiar with bsdiff and bspatch. If not I'll provide a pre-patched PUP for you soon. Should you be running Wutangrza's CFW, then there may be no reason for you to upgrade to kmeaw's, unless of course there is unsigned homebrew that you're missing out on.

Comment Installer Ofw 3 55 Places Sc. So they also can use there old CFW as input and only apply the new changes to it. So dev's don't need to share copyright.

Instructions are included in 'kmeaw_cfw_readme.txt.' Please read that before proceeding.

Geohot's jailbreak is not needed for kmeaw's CFW. Yes Backup Managers work when executing lv2.pkg (included) before hand. Brick status? I haven't seen any reported. But still, you're on your own.

Update: Find the pre-patched PUP below. Download: - source. Download the OFW 3.55 and the kmeaw 3.55 CFW package from above. Place the OFW 3.55 in any folder. Use the desktop to make things easier. Extract the kmeaw 3.55 CFW zip file.

In the folder, you will see the patchfile zip folder and the bsdiff4.3 zip folder. Extract the bsdiff4.3 zip folder and copy and paste the bsdiff and bspatch on your desktop. Extract the patchfile zip folder and copy and paste the patchfile on your desktop. By now you should have the OFW 3.55, bsdiff, bspatch and the patchfile all on your desktop.

Open the command prompt in windows. Go to the desktop by typing 'cd desktop' and hitting the enter key. Now place the following: 'bspatch PS3UPDAT.PUP PS3UPDATE-NEW.PUP patchfile' and hit the enter key. The kmeaw patched PS3UPDATE-NEW.PUP should appear on the desktop. Rename the PS3UPDATE-NEW.PUP to PS3UPDAT.PUP and place it in the PS3 =>UPDATE folder of a flash drive. Copy the lv2.pkg file in the root of the flash drive. Insert the flash drive into your ps3 and install the patched update via the system update option.

After installation, go to the 'install package files' option under the game tab and install the lv2.pkg file. Run the application that appears under the game tab. I hope this makes it easier for u guys.

To people running copied games and playing them online, are you daft? Sony may not yet have spit out FW 3.56 in an effort to shut this all down (and I'm surprised it's taken this long), but rest assured they are not just sitting idly by letting you do this.

As it is I personally only have the ftp installed on a 3.55 CFW, and even just that makes me feel a little bit nervous about firing up my internet connected PS3. Playing copied games online is just asking to be banned if/when Sony finally does bring the hammer down.

Belive it or not, I'm still on teh 3.40 over some update in teh usage rights that says that sony can push mandatory system updates on you, so its all part of teh industry naw I guess(maby they'll make one that will brick CFWed consoles). If u are after 3.40 that means that the 'soul' of your ps3 has been tainted by TEH CORRUPTION and there is no reason tryin' to stay on teh older firmwire naw. And yeah I'll know I'll have to update sooner o later, so all I'm wating is for a moar permanent solution since teh cfw production haz been. Productive, yeah! 4 Great Justice. This with Gaia i have not run into a single backup that has not played. MY games tested running on kmeaw’s version with the new Gaia, working are - Batman AA Dead Rising 2 Tekken 6 Assassins Creed 2 Red Dead Redemption Remember to always run the lv2 patch every time you power on your ps3. Before you run the Backup Manager. I also have a real disc in the drive, and when i mount the game i launch from the 'dummy' disc. Worked every time with the titles above. Good Luck everyone.

Delete PS3UPDAT.PUP 4. Rename PS3CFW.PUP to PS3UPDAT.PUP and that's it! You're ready to install 5. Install lvl2.pkg 6.

Launch backups with manager Quote: kmeaw's CFW is different from FLUKES1 and Wutangrza and anyone elses. Basically kmeaws CFW has peek/poke, and the same patch that Geohot released, along with access to app_home. App_home is used for diskless booting of your games with a BM. Please refer to your BM's thread for how to boot diskless. You will need to reinstall any of your homebrew/backup managers with signed for 3.55 copies. Wutangrza's CFW is basically what flukes1 released it just has peek/poke enabled but you can't install PKG's. Geohot's CFW can be installed over the top on Wutangrza's CFW and allows you to install special signed PKG's.

This LV2.pkg patch can be loaded from any CFW that has peek/poke, and adds syscalls for backup managers etc. SUMMARY: On Wutangrza's/Geohot Firmware you have to use pkg's signed with geohots tools.

On Kmeaw's Firmware you also have to use pkg's signed with Geohot's tools. I am using this CFW and I am playing Metal Gear Solid 4 right from the External USB Hard drive, How AWESOME!!! I did OFW->This firmware. No Jailbreak CFW from GEOHot nessesary.

Then I installed the 'lv2-v2.pkg' and 'Rogero Manager v7.8'. When Completed load up the PS3 then run the 'OMG OMG OMG lv2' from the XMB ( This has to be Done on EVERY BOOTUP of the PS3)when a White Screen comes up just press X and it will return to the XMB. Then Load up Rogero Manager and pick your games and play, So far i managed to play MOH ( Updated ), Create ( Updated ), Fallout ( Updated ), BloodDrive ( Updated ), GT5 ( Updated ), Both Army of Two ( Updated ), Ghost Recon ( Updated ) and more, all were updated from PSN and Online playable:). My system is CECH-2001B Slim. I really am Enjoying this.

Frank thanks for your help i seem to have got it now, here is what i did to hopefully help someone out in need such as myself. Follow the steps as above start with 3.55 OFW >kmeaw 3.55 CFW >Run LV2.pkg on boot >install Gaia or any manager you like, fix permissions (links supplied above) restart >re-run Lv2.pkg and run your backup, if your having problems after this, please rip a legit game and if it works you must be using dodgy warez games with edited eboots.

Maybe this could help someone;) Default Installing VLC Player on Playstation 3 Tutorial by Zoned In the downloads section is a file called vlc.zip Get that and download it to your PS3. In there, you have 1) all the RPM files for VLC including dependencies 2) new yum.conf file to be placed into /etc directory (login as root and rename your original yum.conf to yum.backup or something like that) 3) Go into your terminal and type these commands as root (or type su to gain root privileges): rpm --import rpm --import 4) What I did was randomly click the RPM files and move them to another directory as they successfully installed, if I received a dependency error, I'd find the file that I needed and go to install that one. It doesn't take too long. 4) Finally, install the VLC included in this package. I've been able to play every mp3, xvid, divx, mpeg, etc that I have thrown at this.

Also remember the tip that the first poster mentioned (start up YDL in the gnome interface or else VLC isn't going to show up under applications). Weird for you guys I AM RUNNING PERFECT HAD ONE CRASH IN ABOUT A SPAN OF 4 HOURS, that was the first run of GAIA manager, I have tested 10 games and they work, black ops, madden 11, 2k11, ninja gaiden 2, brain challenge, nba jam, mini ninjas (trophy issue i will retry) monster jam path of destruction, borderlands, splatter house, blood drive, and I have about 25 more d/ling right now. I have not played the entire game of each mentioned, I went and tried until I expect a crash and no crashes since first one.

Going to bed, hoping for BETTER SEGA SATURN EMULATOR. I will keep up to date. I am sony cech-2101a slim model, also worked on a fat model and I am going to install on a 2001b model 2mrw, with all the games mentioned. I also did not LV2 anything, I tried the game cfw first and worked great. I am on kmeaw 3.55 patched.

Can anyone give me a hand, please? I´ve installed kmeaow CFW in my PS3 slim 160GB (Mexican) and also lv2 pkg, then I´ve installed Multiman (Rogero v7.8 just didn´t work at all); worked fine until there; then, when I made backups of AC brotherhood and GOW 3, none of then worked on Multiman; I just had a black screen and the screen returned to the XMB, to my entire sadness.

What am I doing wrong? Should I change any of the settings on Multiman? I appreciate I anyone has the answer and would like to share it. Okay everything seems to be working well, I was already on 3.55 OFW then used Kmeaw's CFW, installed the LV2 thingy, and GAIA back-up managar, Copied NFS Hot Pursuit to the HDD and enabled the 'Disc-Less' option. But doesn't start up the game when I launch it from GAIA. And I don't have any other game at the moment to put in, (bought it a week ago in a NFS Hot Pursuit Bundle) So any fix on this?

On how to run the game without a Disc in the PS3. Also since the install of the CFW, when I exit the game, from playin it as normal (with the disc in the device) it freezes when I press Quit Game in the PS Button option menu. What's wrong?

Some help and answers plz!! I yet to update to kmeaw, but right now i have wutangrza+geoho t installed and runng lv2.pkg. I have a launch 60Gb fat CECHA 256mb nand. Installed a 250Gb internal and use a 500Gb external drive for backups. All games are running fine using lv2.pkg + GAIA for 3.55 with ORIGINAL eboots. I was using a modified eboot for GT5 and it didn't work, so I replaced it with the original, deleted system data for the game and now works fine.

No issues with Little Big Planet 2 or Mass Effect 2 using original eboot (both on external drive). My advice for games not working is to make sure you are using the original eboot and delete any system data for the said game before launching the game on this new CFW. I have Kmeaw CFW loaded now on my Slim CECH-2501B. Was at 3.41 before.

I can run some games on HD like Heavy rain and God of War collection. Some games are black screen. I can't seem to run any other BM. Also the fix permissions installs but I get an error when i try to run it. Finally, BR discs give an error as well. Something seems wrong.

I have Loaded LV and Giaia Mgr worksfor some games. Rachet and Clank Crack in Time for example does not work on external, but worked perfect on JB previously. No eboot mod. It just won't start after I launch it from the game menu, it shows up at home/apps/GAME, the background shows up and music plays but as soon as I start it up nothing happens, just black. =( I was realy hopin that THIS was THE CFW that would be without any problems, but just caused me more frustration. I would really like to install this, but i have a 'CECH-2502B' 340GB that i purchased just b4 Christmas it put me back 600 bucks.

I installed geohots jb fine then i put the official 3.55 back on it. I need to know this is not going to brick my ps3 when i install this cfw as if i do brick it i will prob go on a killing spree. So has anyone got this cfw to install successfully on this model. 'Thanks in advace'.

Hello to everybody! I need some clarification about latest CFW and LV2 patcher. From what I understand the LV2 patcher has been integrated both in CFW (for example Kemew) and in backup manager. Gaia Manager integrate LV2 pather strating from version 2.02 multiMAN integrate LV2 pather strating from version 1.13.00 Rogero Manager integrate LV2 pather strating from version 7.9a Since I understand I need to execute the LV2 patcher only once, what are the different methods of doing it? CFW without LV2 patcher and then by installing a BM with LV2 pather integrated or CFW with LV2 patcher already integraed and then by installing a VM without LV2 patcher?

Put the Official 3.55 firmware file, PS3UPDAT.PUP on flash drive in /PS3/UPDATE/ (yes, all caps) on your USB device. Do not plug in yet. (I format my thumb drive to FAT file system first) 2.) Go into Recovery Mode Recovery Mode instructions: A. Power down the PS3, unplug power cord if no per switch on the back, then switch/plug back in. Now press and hold the power button, the system will startup and shutdown again.

Release the power button, then press & hold power again, you’ll hear one beep followed by two consecutive beeps. Release power 3.) Connect the USB device and select “System Update.” (remember to always use the USB port closest to the disc loader)(all together about 4 minutes) 4.) Once your updated with the Official 3.55 update, erase it off USB flashdrive 5.) Now put the patched kmeaw custom 3.55 firmware file (this will have the same file name as the official one so don't get them mixed up) onto flash drive in /PS3/UPDATE/ 6.) Now repeat step 2 and 3 to update to the kmeaw custom firmware 7.) YOU ARE NOW OFFICIALLY HACKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After doing all my reading on this yesterday & after doing alot of DUMB mistakes, I finally got this to work. I have now tested (3)Games (nfs hot pursuit/blur/gt5).

My question is, since each game ask to update itself online & would it be wise to backup each game on an external hard drive in the event I upgrade or my internal hard drive crashes? If I did & had to do it again would it have the updated data of each game or is it stored somewhere else? Also at first I didn't know how to install Multiman so I installed just the.pkg file without the included.ini file etc.

I did figure it out when it just stuck on the loading screen. My other question is, how can I delete the old file on my system since it gives me an error when I use triangle & delete? I have CECHA00 1st gen fat NTSC-J.

Originally 60gb but swapped for 320. Currently using 3.41 hermes v4b with 3.50 spoof. Will i have any issues? If im understanding correctly, i just need to update to 3.55 OFW then apply the CFW 3.55 patched pup provided above, right? All my old 3.41 managers and homebrew should work fine?

Can i get on psn? If so, do i have to be using one of the newer managers written for the 3.55 cfw? Have there been any problems with previous working games not working anymore? Thanks in advance for any/all help.

Been out of the scene for the past few weeks and so much has happened.:). Hi all, everything is working fine so I realy want to give a big thanks to all the people who made this possible. Of course, there are several bugs and crashes of PS3 using the actual MFW's.

Maybe this is part of my PS3 architecture misunderstandin g or even not able to read manuals carefully BUT, Root-key just released 4 weeks ago an I'm happy with the solutions existing right now. I tried SNES and BackupManager and everything works pretty good right now. It would be pretty cool, if MKV format will be supported in future releases because that's the cool stuff which is needed, to use PS3 as a full featured media player. BackupManager(s ) are pretty cool to check out games, but please guys, buy the platinum editions to get realy cool games for low-price!

Support the devs! I will, that is fact, try games via BackupManagers if I'm unsure to pay bucks for this game. But I played a game via BM today and I was pleased to see, how funny this game is. I will buy it tommorow for a couple of bucks (19.95 Euro).

So, please use MFW/CFW, but don't be a game hunter Grettings T. I upgraded my PS3 Slim 250GB from 3.41 JB (PSFreedom) to KMEAW 3.55 CFW by fallowing the below procedure. Update the OFW 3.55 in Recovery mode. Update the KMWEAW 3.55 CFW in Recovery mode. Install the Multiman multiMAN 01.13.3 and Gaia Manager v2.04 BM.

When i was upgrading, the process is very quick. Its jump from 25% to 100% very quickly. Anyway, when i try to run Multiman its hangs and gives me payload resident not found error.

After searching forms, i install the LV2-V4 and its seem working. Even after all that system is not stable as 3.41JB.

The games which work on 3.41 JB is hangs such as Enslaved. After upgrade my internal HDD backup games disappear also. Hey, I don't know if some people are still having problems with backups. I did though for two days The solution I found is very simple and I wanted to share. Well the original instructions I read said to return to sonys original firmware update to this. Then install geohots jailbreak that didnt work at all no backups would run.

On the other hand when I installed the original firmware then geohotz jailbreak, before this firmware the backups run perfect so the steps would look like this. Revert to original sony firmware. 2.Install geohotz Jail break. 3Install Kmeaws firmware. Hi All, I've installed Kmeaw 3.55 CFW on a PS3 slim 250gb, also LV2 patcher, GAIA 2.04 & Multiman 0.15.

Everything was working 'beautifully' for over a week, I had backed up all my games onto the HDD and verified I could play each one ( using one of the disks in the drive). This was working for more than a week without the slightest issue, then upgraded Gaia to 2.06 AND SUDDENLY nothing works!!! I can go into the managers (tried both) select the game, get booted out to XMB. Guess what.i don't see my game any more ( as I did last week).I only see the game disk in the drive. Remember THIS WAS WORKING!!!, whats gone wrong here???.remember also I've also tried the multiman manager, thanks in advance for any help.

Need NTFS/exFAT support. Many games have files larger then 4 GB so I am not able to store them on a external harddrive.

Unfortunally, CFW is restricted to FAT32 wich has to many limitations in order to be a functional filesystem (not allowing files larger then 4GB plus the maximum partition-size that Windows will format as FAT32 is 32 GB unless you use 3rd party partition software like Paragon Partition Manager-). When I play the backup of Mafia 2 (through MultiMAN 1.16.00) it downloads updated gamedata (patches) installs them but apperantly does not apply it since it will start downloading the same patches next time I run the game. Drivers De Camara Labtec. Also, Mafia 2 does save my savegame, asks me if I want to load it but when I want to continue the game from where I left it gives me a error on the savegame making me start over the whole game.

With Wipeout HD + Fury I do not have this problem. I surely do not want to sound unthankful. I think you all did a wonderful job setting the PS3 free. It needs a keen kind of intelligence to pull this kind of hacks off. Just want to give some feedback to you guys.

A few more questions: If I install the pre-patched PUP, do I still have to install the lvl2 package? Do I need to install Gaia 2.04 for this CFW to work? I'm not sure whether this process would delete my old backups. I mean I can always backup my save files (these are whats important to me anyway) but it would be a pain in the ass to backup my games again. I admit that I have a couple of games that I do not own but I don't really care if I lose those.

I just want to make sure if updating from my USB JB system to this CFW will either delete everything on my HD or not. Thanks to anyone that can provide me some answers. I did install kmeaw cfw and the latest multiman; however, multiman won't run my old backups.

I deleted all game data prior to installing and after the initial run of multiman, my old backups showed up. Then I tried to run one game and it froze so I restarted.

Upon restarting, the games won't show on multiman anymore. I did solve the problem by installing the latest gaia manager, although it does not support no cd but oh well. At least I don't have to deal with the JB dongle. Thanks for your help though.

I have the fat PS3 60GB model and i have succesfully installed the kmeaw 3.55 with the service mode method.Now this is where i am a bit confused.The LV2Patcher v9 has 9.pkg files.Which one should i install?The same goes for the Gaia Manager which has 3.pkg files (GAMEZ.pkg,GAMES.pkg and Bluray'something'.pkg).Which one should i install?I have tried the v9.pkg from lv2patcher and the GAMEZ.pkg for Gaia but the backups are not working with or without an original disc inserted.
